By juxtaposing and layering my original photographs I create a world removed from the limits of reality. Using the computer as my paintbrush facilitates results that would be impossible in the traditional darkroom. Like dreams, this art possesses a vividness and connection to experience, but yet it's an illusion. The allegorical imagery engages the eyes, minds, and spirits of the viewers and invites them to develop their own personal interpretation.

My mixed media work is built layer upon layer by interlacing my photography with acrylic paint and collage to create one-of-a-kind artworks. The juxtaposition of opposing elements such as painterly and hard edge, organic and geometric, textural and smooth, transparent and opaque creates a visual dance. The resulting effect is energetic, yet tranquil due to the subject matter. The rhythms and patterns of the natural world evoke a sense of calm and serenity.

An intuitive, organic approach is revealed in these contemporary compositions. This artwork is created with acrylic paint which often includes collage of fine art paper, handmade paper, found paper, cloth, textural elements and other bits of ephemera. Sometimes ripped pieces of my photographs or photomontages are included. The layers of different materials produce wonderful juxtapositions of texture.
